Participation in this program is conditional upon the receipt of the documents by Naropa University.
Participation requirements prior to January departure
In addition to time in Bhutan, admitted students will be expected to participate in an online orientation prior to departure. This orientation will cover logistics of the study abroad, introduce the history and culture of Bhutan, and provide a discussion board for students to get to know their Bhutan cohort. A percentage of the grade for required course BSA325 Traditional Culture and Contemporary Issues of Bhutan is assigned based on completion of the online orientation.
During the semester prior to departure, there will be a voluntary meeting of the Bhutan cohort for students to get to know each other and ask questions about their upcoming study abroad experience. Attendance at this meeting is not mandatory but recommended for students from the Boulder area. There will be one, final pre-departure meeting in early December that is required of all Bhutan Study Abroad students. Members of the cohort who are not on campus will be able to participate via video conference.
Admitted students will need to pay a $500 non-refundable deposit within two weeks of acceptance to the program.
